June already?

Well it has been a while since I wrote on here...alas, the addiction that is myspace had captured me...arghhh!!
Anyways, we just got back from a 3 week trip to Australia and it was alot of fun. i got to catch up with tons of old buddies and also spent quality time with my family which was cool.

Alls good on the work front here, still working at the vet and loving it, and Jon still is doing great with his kids.

Well that's about all I wanna say right now so till next time, thanks for reading!

Happy New Year!

Well Happy New Year to everyone I haven't talked to yet this year!! I know it's been a while since I updated cause I have been caught up in the addiction that is myspace!! But I decided today that i really want to keep this going as I know some of you don't use myspace and look in on this occasionally for updates so I will try to keep it up to date!! Plus its easier for putting new photos on so I will update those shortly too.

Well since my last blog some cool things have happened. First off, my new job is going really well, I love working for Dr Edick and the girls there are great. I love doing surgeries with him and learning more everyday! This job is perfect for me and I love getting to cuddle kitties everyday and see little puppies and meet new people all the time also. I'm happy here.

Christmas was an interesting time, it wasn't anything "normal" as we weren't with either family sadly but we did get to hang out with our "Aunty" Jan and her family so that was nice. Not the same without real family though.

New Years was fun we had a talent show and games at church which was cool. I also did some karaoke - i sung a special song to Jon!! He was a little embarrassed...
well more later!!!

Christmas time is here...

I got the bluesss.... Well its been a while since I wrote one of these so I thought I'd catch you up. I ended up leaving the job at the vet after a week, I wasn't too happy there I mean I loved the animals and learning all about their health (or olack of it) and taking care of the sick ones and assisting surgery and stuff, I loved that more than I even thought I would...but my boss wasn't the nicest person, she was a terrible communicator and awful teacher and there just wasn't enough happening to keep 2 of us busy so we sort of stood around and wondered what to do all day but then she kind of said she didnt need me anymore which I'm still not sure if she meant I was fired or that she had just overhired but anyway I was glad to be gone from that uncomfortable environment. But I do miss learning and giving love to the pets so I'm hoping to get a job in january at another vet who's a nice guy and good teacher and he really wants me to work for him and he said he'd pay me well cause of my degree whereas the other egyptian chick said my degree was worth nothing here and paid me crap. So I'm just hanging out till then to start work again, I was thinking of getting a casual job but haven't got around to it yet I'm sorta enjoying just being a housewife and doing whatever.
Well it looks like this Christmas we won't be with either family since we can't afford to go to Australia and Jon's parents can't afford to pay for the whole family to come over here. So I don't know which family we will impose upon since we got at least 5 invites for Thanksgiving but I'm sure we will end up having a good day anyways with one of our new adopted families here.
The church is really great I mean as hard as it's been adjusting again to a new life and missing home alot it would have been ten times harder had I not had such good caring friends in our new church taking care of me. They're all so amazing, its really a blessing to be working with and for them.
Youth Group is going really well, Sr high is lots of fun, we have a good solid group that are easy to teach and play games with and the JR highs also seem to look up to us and we have fun with them on wednesay nights. We also get free dinner beforehand for all the awana people so thats always nice.
Jon and I have been having couples games nights with a cool couple from church, Lindsay and Charlie, we have a lot of fun playing cranium and its good marriage building time I keep telling him. I just love board games, I'm glad he plays sometimes but I wish we shared that love! We bought battleship the other day from walmart and have been trying to play that every night to spend a little time together away from WORLD OF WARCRAFT his new favourite addiction. sighhh boys and their toys...
anyways so today is a good day but please keep me in your prayers when you can cause my homesickness is a constant battle within me and trying to trust in God in His plan for me is a daily struggle that I often fail and I need all the help I can get to win the daily battles to NOT be miserable...and then comes a lonely Christmas with no family and not being at home (Australia) for the third Chrissy in a row...man I miss Toowoomba in December...well, maybe next year we can go if we save next year and once I start working we should be able to get enough to go maybe in May for a visit as well. So until then I just gotta look within to find my happiness and focus on being content as Paul instructs us to be in Philippians.
Well thats about all for now!

back to work again for me!

well I have good news, 5 years after graduating with my animal degree, I finally got a job with ANIMALS!!!! :-) as of Monday I will be working as a Vet Assistant in Bakersfield!!
I'm pretty happy about it, but also a little worried as I had some trouble negotiating my wage so the boss and I won't be starting off exactly as I would have liked...but I know God is incontrol and everything will work out in the end!!

So things are going pretty well in our life right now, Jon's work is progressing and he is learning and growing alot and doing well with his kiddies!!
Speaking of kiddies, our 2 little ones are causing lots of trouble and destroying whatever they can dig up in our yard...but they're slowing getting better trained and not pooing quite so much everywhere. But they're lots of fun and still adorable so we put up with it lol

We are not sure we will be able to make it out to Oz for Christmas being that flights are so outrageous that time of year so we'll just to wait and see...

well thats about all for now...

Surprise!! We got puppies!!

Well now I can reveal our little surprises...we adopted 2 cute little puppies from the SPCA!!! We get to bring them home on Friday after they get desexed.
They are the cutest!! Mine is the brown and white one, her name is Joey and Jon's in the black and brown one and he is Jeter (after the Yankee captain).
They are brother and sister Cattle Dog crosses but they call them Queensland Heelers over here. We are not sure what breed their parents were, they were rescued and brought in by a lady who found them alone. So we're not sure what they will grow up to look like! But they're so cute and smart now, we're been in visiting them every day we can and teaching them to sit which they both are quite good at now. We can't wait to bring them home, they're gonna be so much fun to have!!!

So yeah that's the exciting news...oh and I also got my new passport with my new name so that's exciting...now I just have to save $260 to replace my greencard...so darn expensive! My passport was free!! oh well.

so we are in our new house now, I'll have to take pics of that now! but its cool, we are really settling in and enjoying life here.

ok enough for now, hope you enjoy the pics of our little ones! (if I can load them!)

Still moving!!

Well its now Friday and we still haven't spent a night in our new house! We have been slowly moving stuff in everyday and finally we're down to just the fridge and our few things left at Jan's...so maybe tonight will be the night! :-)
I'm pretty happy its such a nice big house and we have so much room to put our few belongings, and soooo many people have given us furniture and stuff... it looks so good already! I am going over again soon to do more unpacking, and then later we are getting the fridge and then I am hanging out my new friend Ellie Enns tonight and going shopping for Jon's anniversary gift! Our first anniversary is this Sunday! I'm so sad we can't go away though, but the timing is just bad so we're just gonna have a special night out somewhere cause that's the best we can do right now. But my baby did buy me an awesome present! A beautiful heart-shaped pink sapphire ring! It's one I've looked at for years wishing I had so I'm very happy with his choice!

We have a coiuple of surprises to reveal soon also but not just yet...stay tuned for the next exciting installment of the life of Kellie and Jon Rivera!
P.S. I am getting my name changed at last starting with my passport, I should have it next week yay!!!

Living it up in California!

Well things have been going really well for us here. We're been blessed to have been staying with Jan who has really looked after us beyond what we would have hoped for. She's such a blessing. She's also artistic and makes cards of all types and she helped me handmake some for some special people.

We are moving into our new house tomorrow!!! I'm so excited, I can't wait to start setting up my new house and decorating it the way I want and stuff...and we are getting a new bed soon and stuff so it's all happening. The church has been such a blessing to us, they threw us a welcome party today and they gave so many beautiful gifts that will help us so much to settle in. I will have to put pictures up of our new place as soon as I get some...that could be a while tho cause I still have my wedding pics on my camera!! lol
Anyways, Jon is going well in his new job and likes his office, messy as it is. I am still waiting to hear back from a vet job I applied for....will call tomorrow to check on that.
Well that's about all for now...oh and we're joining the church softball team so we bought Jon a new glove yesterday, now I want one too!!!

Ok well I'm off again, for those who have one, I have a myspace I'm really starting to get into so check it out and add me as a friend if you have one! myspace.com/heartsong24
